Prepping Your Piano for the Holiday Season
If you’re like many piano owners, your instrument serves as the center of light, cheer and family during the holiday season.
This year, get a head start on the piano fun! Take a look below for a few ways to prep it for the season ahead.
Add seasonal flourishes
‘Tis the season, after all—deck out the space surrounding your piano in beautiful holiday flourishes! Add a few ornaments to the top of your piano when it’s not in use for a fun, festive look. Or frame your instrument with a traditional garland to keep you cheery and inspired as you play.
Stock up on seasonal sheet music
The holiday season, of course, calls for some of your favorite classic tunes! Whether it’s something as simple as “Jingle Bells” or “Greensleeves,” or as rich and invigorating as “The Nutcracker Suite,” everyone in the family can try something new, fun and festive for the holidays. Stock up now and keep a collection of these tunes handy through the end of the year, so warm seasonal music is never out of reach.
Craft musical ornaments
If you’ve got a crafty touch, you might enjoy making homemade musical ornaments for your friends and family! There is no limit to the amount of piano-inspired trinkets you can make, but one of our favorites is a simple sheet music “globe.” Pick up a clear ornament from the craft store, then fill it with ribbon-like strips (about ½ inch in width) of copies of your favorite sheet music. The result is a cute, clever ornament that showcases musical spirit with ease.
Give the gift of a lifetime
Of course, one of the very best ways to celebrate the season is to give the gift of a lifetime. If you’re interested in sharing your musical gift, you can send (or store) your own piano as you wait for the big day to give it to someone you love. That’s where Modern Piano can help!
