What makes us better, and why that makes a difference to you.

Modern Piano Moving is state of the art.  We are constantly upgrading the service to our customers. Being the best comes with some cost.  While we try to make it obvious why the choice is black and white (our colors) here is the short list of the many reasons to make Modern Piano Moving your preferred piano/organ mover.

  1. We are the piano mover. We answer our phone/website, book the job, dispatch the truck, properly inventory/load/pad/secure your piano, drive to the final destination, and properly unload/place it in its new home and everything in between. We can take total responsibility for its care since we have total control of it 100 percent of the time. *** If you have a problem, who will be there to resolve it? Some brokers choose the cheapest company they can find to do the work. Ask them what they are paying. Some keep as much as half for just booking your move. What happens if the broker does not pay the mover?
  2. All our crews are full time employees. They have only one boss to report to, Russell Vitt and one boss to keep happy, you our customer. There are no independent contractors or part time helpers. Each employee receives full benefits including 100% health insurance and worker’s comp coverage, vacation/holiday pay and a 401k program. Pay and bonuses lead the industry, which allows us to send the very best to your home. *** Independent helpers are … independent. They may take extra items (other than pianos) that may include something flammable. They may decide they are not making enough money and leave. The truck belongs to them. They may not be insured while on your property and file a claim against you. Ask if they have ever had a truck disappear.
  3. All our trucks and trailers are custom designed and engineered for piano moving. We own them all and each one has our name and distinctive piano decal on its side. From custom cargo control, air ride suspension, rail lift gates to insulated truck bodies, custom dollies and improved lighting, you can be assured your piano will enjoy the ride. *** Most rental trucks have no cargo control system, climate control or air ride suspension… because it is expensive. Ask your piano which truck it would prefer.
  4. Modern Piano Moving has been in business since 1935. While we have changed to meet the needs of our customers, we have not forgotten our roots in quality, service, and value. We are known from sea to shining sea…. Ask your tuner, teacher, dealer, or local mover for a reference. Be prepared to hear our name over… and over. *** How long a firm has been in business indicates their commitment. When something happens, will they fold? Will they be there tomorrow? Are they just a lot of expensive advertising?
  5. We have six locations nationwide. The most locations mean quicker service for you, more home time for your crewmembers. Because we dispatch from six locations your piano may not have to ride so far. *** If your piano moving crew is driving from California to do your move in New York, are they at their best? Will your piano go west before going south? Where does backup come from if their truck fails them?
  6. Our trucks are serviced by our mechanics. We have the parts in stock, the tires on hand and the qualified technicians on staff to keep your piano on route 24/7. All units are inspected daily by our crewmembers on the road. What others consider an annual inspection happens after every trip at our shop. *** Less downtime means faster/safer service to you, a focused/contented driver for us.
  7. We operate 24/7. Office hours are longer, 7am to 6pm Monday thru Friday and 8 to 12 noon Saturday (central time). Each crew has a cell phone, which is available for you to call, as you need to. Should you need to reach us while the office is closed, key employees are available for emergency contact. Russell’s cell number is also available 24/7…. 314-568-6887. *** Try calling the other person at 8:00 AM Eastern Time, or a weekend. Ask for a 24/7 number from someone else. If you get one, try it. Leave a message and see if it is returned. People who care cost more to employ. We have them.
  8. All warehouses are climate controlled and are located within eye shot of our employees at all times. Electronic security including fire and smoke protection is hard wired and monitored 24/7 by a central station. *** Pianos are wood. If they freeze, they can crack. Heat can actually melt the finish. No drafty cheap downtown warehouses. Your piano stays with us where we live. Ask it which accommodations it would prefer.
  9. Our company is owned and operated by our employees. We love what we do, and it shows. Drivers receive a review after every trip and attend class twice a year. Job performance plays an important role in their advancement and their pay/benefits. Drivers have their own in-office dispatcher who also is rewarded based on customer feedback. *** The bottom line at Modern Piano Moving is happy customers/employees. Success and profit is a natural outcome of doing things right.
  10. Our name is Modern Piano Moving. We specialize in moving high value (monetary/sentimental) instruments (pianos and organs). We do it a lot and we are very good at it. Practice makes perfect and while we may never reach that lofty goal, we are closer than anyone else is. *** When United Van Lines purchased Mayflower, we moved their top person’s wife’s piano from Indiana to Missouri. She had the pick of drivers and chose us. The odds of success are better when you do it daily. When it has to be done right…..
  11. We are fully licensed and insured. Our interstate identification number is 240153 and our USDOT is 454870. Each employee is covered while on your property. Valuation is included with every move with no deductible. Additional coverage is available to five million dollars. Our insurance company is the same carrier used by over half of the household goods carriers and is owned by Unigroup. (United and Mayflower Van Lines).  *** Having the proper permits means we have met all the requirements. Having the best insurance company means quick, fair service should it be needed.
  12. We move pianos between all 48 states. While it costs more to service the entire country, it is the only way to be the best. If you need it done, we can do it. *** You will never hear that we do not go there. What if your plans change? What if they decide after loading they really do not want to go where you are going either?
  13. We work with local movers who have the same philosophy we do. When you need fast pickup or have a difficult location, we can call on member companies as required. Experience tells us who is good, and who is not. *** The ability to respond to the changing needs of our customer efficiently and effectively can make the difference between success and failure, completion and disaster.
  14. We are members of NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants), BBB (Better Business Bureau), MMCA (Missouri Motor Carriers Association), PTG (Piano Technicians Guild), and others. *** We care about doing it right. We are open to new ideas and other's opinions. We value our relationship within the piano owners/dealers/movers/technicians and trucking community. We have our own custom display, which we take to industry shows. We are here today, here tomorrow, here for the long run.
  15. Russell Vitt, the President and General Manager, still runs a truck between company locations. He is involved in training at all levels and responds to customer/driver calls as needed. You will find no more commitment anywhere. He demands the best and sets the example, daily. *** Russell pioneered long distance piano moving. Experience, knowledge and the desire to be the best has done just that. Let us prove it to you.

In the end, anybody can move a piano, but will it be done by highly trained professionals?

When it’s your piano why take a chance?  The choice is black and white.  Choose Modern Piano Moving and get the job done right!
